Duke of Edinburgh Award

Mission Statement

Here at Barr Beacon School, we passionately believe that a pupil’s personal development is as important as the academic success they strive to achieve. Through the Duke of Edinburgh Award, our pupils will have the opportunity to develop through volunteering, learning new skills and becoming more physically active. Taking part in expeditions across the Long Mynd, through the Peak District and possibly over Snowdonia (Gold), will truly test the character and determination of all pupils who sign up to the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

There are four main sections of a DofE programme; Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition. At Gold participants will also complete a Residential section. You can read more about them HERE.
